Handgun violence makes a hot weekend tragic.

This from DCist:

It was a terrible weekend for far too many people in the District. A series of shootings and stabbings left at least 11 people wounded and two dead, including a man found dead in Brightwood, a man stabbed in the Palisades, a 16-year-old boy shot in Southeast, and at least six people shot in Trinidad [DC neighborhood – J] alone in separate incidents, including 13-year-old Alonzo Robinson. Police Chief Cathy Lanier quickly moved to reestablish a “neighborhood safety zone” and checkpoint in Trinidad on Saturday night in response to the worst of the violence — more on that later. The Post reports that no arrests have been made in any of the weekend’s shooting or stabbing cases, and that police are still looking for the gold 2002 Dodge Intrepid that was allegedly used in one and perhaps more of the incidents in Trinidad.

  1. *sarcasm* Its a good thing all those victims have a personal right to defend themselves with guns! Nothing like a good old-fashioned shoot-out to settle your differences!*/sarcasm*
